Introducing Your Hosts
Hi, we’re Lyn & Jason and our passion is ensuring that guests have the most relaxing stay at Dorset House. We thought we should explain how we ended up in Lyme Regis, running a Bed and Breakfast…
Previously, Lyn worked for a luxury car maker in marketing, travelling the world for advertising shoots and always keeping note of which hotels provided the best service and how. After years of juggling global travel and three small children, the itch that ‘there must be something more fulfilling than this’ became too much and it was time to work out how to pull together passions and practicalities to create a new kind of life.
At the time, Jason was working for a luxury Health Club chain, managing a large indoor tennis centre. He had already traded the city for sports management several years previously and so was already very used to looking after very varied business requirements, teaching a county level junior tennis player one minute and standing in for a no-show barista the next.
We both knew that we wanted to work in hospitality, and initially toyed with a tennis school in Italy – but then fell in love with the Dorset Coast. We initially dismissed Dorset House as it needed so much work and had no business to allow us to hit the ground running. But we realised that it gave us a blank canvas to create the kind of business that we dreamed of running.
We both love getting out to explore the countryside on foot and paddleboarding in the bay (when the waves permit!) And we are always appreciative of how stunning our ‘walk around the block’ is – we try to get out for a walk every day, come rain or shine.
WE'D LOVE TO LOOK AFTER YOU AT DORSET HOUSE
And if you’ve any questions, please do give us a call.
Lyn
I’m passionate about cooking and nutrition and love the amazing produce that we have here in Dorset. I also love trail running along our amazing clifftop paths and swim in the sea most mornings before breakfast service (always happy to take along any guests who’d love to give it a go but need a helping hand). I’m also a coffee addict and my pet hotel peeve is poor coffee.
JASON
My sporting background means that I’m happiest either cycling through the local woodlands or kayaking out to fish for Mackerel. I still teach and play tennis when I can and relax with a yoga class whenever possible. The most memorable element of a hotel stay for me is always the ambiance (The Scarlet in Mawgan Porth is a winner for this)
