We know that a great coffee makes for a great day. So we’ve brought in the experts to ensure that your day gets off to the best possible start. Dave at Crankhouse Coffee expertly selects the very best beans to roast and blend locally. We grind fresh every morning and slow brew for the best possible flavour. We even place freshly ground coffee in your room – no instant here.
A Breakfast with Rooms
We believe that breakfast is the most important meal of the day and love coming up with inventive menus to get your day off to a great start. Enjoy a tasty, relaxing and healthy breakfast in our light filled Breakfast Room, or on the veranda if weather permits.
We have a host of fabulous local suppliers and work hard to keep our carbon footprint as low as possible. We source organic food where possible. All of our food is home-made so we know exactly what has gone into the dishes that we serve. As such we are well placed to deal with speciality diets (although some advance warning is very much appreciated).
Here’s a little insight into what makes our breakfast special:
All of our sausages, bacon and eggs come from Haye Farm in nearby Musbury. This organic, regenerative farm has an ethos of high welfare that builds biodiversity and soil carbon.
There’s usually an aroma of bread baking in the kitchen at Dorset House. Perhaps our Sourdough – lovely toasted with mushrooms and poached eggs or a nice seeded loaf to mop up the bacon juices.
Our white flour is from Wildfarmed, a regenerative farming cooperative and our wholemeal spelt is milled at the historic Town Mill in Lyme Regis.
Sometimes a cooked breakfast feels like too much, or maybe you’re a starter and main course breakfast fan. Either way, home-made granola is baked with organic oats and seeds and a healthy sprinkling of almonds and raisins.
If you'd like to enjoy our granola at home, you can find our recipe here
