Warm evening light
Porthole takes its name from the round window in the bathroom. The room is oriented North, which suits late sleepers. The original fireplace and wide waxed floorboards do most of the decorative work. The tiling in the en-suite echoes the ripple patterns left by the retreating tide on the beach below.
Porthole features artwork by Dorset artist Marina Morris, as well as a "Purple Laver" (or as we like to say, "Lover") seaweed print by our local Molesworth & Bird.

Our 2026 rates are per room per night, double occupancy, with a two-night minimum.
One-night bookings are occasionally available - please enquire directly.

We believe in flat-rate pricing year round.
Every season at Dorset House has its charm, whether it's blustery invigorating walks, sunshine on the beach, sea swimming, fossil hunting after a storm, or a cozy book and tipple by the fire.
Single occupancy: £15/night reduction in any room.
Third guest: £15/night addition, and £30 for the sofa bed set up in Lighthouse.
Dorset House is an adults-only property.
Children may be accomodated under special arrangement such as multi-room or Full House bookings.
